Zone Boundaries & Barriers

Where SPDs must be installed at zone transitions.

SPD at zone boundary

Every cable crossing a boundary

Power, data, and antenna cables that cross into a cleaner zone need suitable SPDs or filters at that boundary. Protecting only power leaves a back-door path.

Equipotential bar at the boundary

SPDs should reference the bonding bar that defines the zone boundary—not a distant unrelated earth point.

Architectural coordination

Server rooms, control rooms, and MRF/COMMS rooms are natural LPZ 2 candidates when designed intentionally.
