Why Coordination Matters
Uncoordinated stages can leave the wrong SPD absorbing the energy.

Energy hogging
If a downstream SPD has a lower sparkover / clamping threshold and there is little impedance between stages, it may operate first and fail prematurely.
Goal
Upstream device handles bulk energy; downstream device reduces residual voltage.
Tools
Cable length between boards, deliberate decoupling inductance, and manufacturer coordination charts.
